Once you have installed a
solar system since 1st January 2021, we encourage you to register it as a
contribution towards the Eastern Caribbean.
Every contribution, no matter the size, counts towards the regional
target. We also encourage you to spread the word. However, there are many ways
to participate in and support the Eastern Caribbean Solar Challenge.
If you own a home, you can invest in a residential PV system that can help you to make significant energy savings over time. You may be able to take advantage of government incentives (such as duty concessions) or special facilities offered by financial institutions in your country.
Learn MoreYour business, no matter the type or size, scan invest in one or more solar PV systems, depending on the number of buildings. This can help you to make significant energy savings in the long term. Your business may be able to take advantage of government incentives (such as duty concessions) or special facilities offered by national, regional or international financial institutions.
Learn MoreFinancial institutions such as banks and credit unions can establish attractive special credit facilities to make accessing financing for PV systems easier and more attractive for homeowners and businesses. Similarly, insurance companies can offer special coverage for PV systems.
LEarn MOREGovernments can help to create a favourable environment by offering new and attractive policy and fiscal incentives such as higher limits for the size of private solar installations, and tax rebates. Governments can also introduce new, or amend existing, laws, for the same purpose. In addition, government can demonstrate leadership by continuing to install PV systems on public buildings.
LEARN MOREDevelopment partners may (and are invited to) contribute towards PV installations on health centres, hospitals, emergency shelters and other critical public buildings, either on a bilateral basis or through the ECSC fund. They may also provide similar support for small enterprises. In addition, development partners may provide support towards, among others, administration of the Challenge, technical assistance for Member States, and communication and stakeholder engagement. Interest in supporting the Challenge may be communicated to cdrunit@oecs.int.
