OECS Trade and Private Sector Officials to meet in Grenada

TNG_meeting(OECS Secretariat, Castries, St. Lucia, July 6th 2011,) Grenada will be hosting the 16th Meeting of the OECS Trade Negotiations Group from July 7 & 8, 2011.  Officials from Ministries of Trade and the Private Sector will meet to deliberate on critical issues related to the OECS’ trade policy, in regional, bilateral and multilateral trade arrangements.

OECS Member States make progress in the implementation of EPA Trade in Services and Investment obligations.

OECS Countries work towards preserving special border tax arrangements and other privileges negotiated at the World Trade Organization

banana_loading(OECS Secretariat, Castries, St. Lucia, Wednesday May 12th 2011OECS Members States of the World Trade Organization (WTO) are working towards securing flexibilities they have obtained in the negotiations on agriculture and non agriculture tariff liberalization modalities.  These flexibilities will enable OECS governments to avoid cuts to border taxes including import duties as a result of the current round of multilateral trade negotiations.

OECS Member States urged to press on with efforts to lessen the time and cost to move goods across borders

a_stephen(OECS Secretariat, Castries, St. Lucia, Thursday February 3rd 2011) The OECS Secretariat’s Trade Policy Unit (OECSTPU) is urging Member States to press on with efforts to help lessen the time and cost taken to move goods across borders. That process, known as Trade Facilitation is an essential component of the OECS Economic Union which was ratified by Member Governments of the OECS on January 21st 2011.
