Castries St. Lucia, April 27th, 2010. OECS Ministers for Tourism recently concluded fruitful discussions on developing the sector in a way that is consistent with operationalising a single tourism economic space in the nine-island grouping.
The idea of a single tourism economic space is geared towards supporting the pending OECS Economic Union.

Castries St. Lucia, Monday April 20th, 2010. Germany and the OECS have established relations at the Ambassadorial level.
This significant milestone was achieved when Germany’s newly appointed Ambassador to the OECS, H.E. Dr Ernst Martens presented his credentials to Dr Len Ishmael, Director General of the OECS at an impressive ceremony at the OECS Secretariat in Castries. In attendance were a German team of diplomatic, consular and technical personnel, members of the Diplomatic Corps in St Lucia, and senior staff of the OECS Secretariat.

Castries St. Lucia, Friday April 16th, 2010. OECS Ministers for Tourism will discuss planned efforts towards establishing the OECS region as a single tourism economic space when St. Lucia hosts the 9th Meeting of the OECS Council of Tourism Ministers on Tuesday April 20th 2010.
The idea of a single tourism economic space will be presented by the OECS Secretariat as part of a package of interventions being submitted for the consideration of the European Union under the 10th EDF regional programme, which is geared towards supporting implementation of the OECS Economic Union.

Castries St. Lucia, Friday April 9th, 2010. In light of the recent severe drought conditions in the Eastern Caribbean, farmers across the OECS and the wider Caribbean could well be smiling at the hint of returning rains, as indicated by experts and through visible developing overcast or rainy conditions across the region. However, as farmers and households anxiously wait to welcome the midyear downpour, they are being advised that the returning showers, if very heavy, could also bring problems such as landslides and other forms of land degradation.
