Heads of Government to Gather in Castries for 51st Meeting of the OECS Authority PDF Print Email

On the date marking its 29th Anniversary, the Organization of the Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) will be taking a historic step in deepening the integration of the region. From June 17-18th, 2010, Heads of Government from the nine (9) OECS Member States will convene in Castries, St. Lucia, to participate in the Fifty-first (51st) Meeting of the OECS Authority and to undertake the signing of a revised Treaty which will further enhance the organisation’s core value of regional unity.

Lucia, June 9, 2010, Dominica’s Director of Trade Eisenhower Douglas says the OECS Trade Negotiations Group (TNG) has a commendable spirit of integration through the sharing of best practices. His comments are part of his review of the 14th meeting of the OECS TNG from May 26-27th 2010: It provided an opportunity for my colleagues in the OECS Member States to exchange ideas. All the divisions of trade in the OECS were actually represented.  So it’s a useful forum to exchange ideas and be brought up to date on how your colleagues in the departments of trade throughout the OECS are dealing with their day to day issues.”

British Virgin Islands and St. Vincent and the Grenadines take top honours in 2010 OECS Squash PDF Print Email

SquashCastries Saint. Lucia, Tuesday June 1st, 2010. In the men’s individual competition, Joe Chapman of BVI earned the top prize defeating Charlie Sonson of St. Lucia in the final.  In an all St. Vincent and the Grenadines clash, Kevin Hannaway overpowered compatriot Kevin Bailey.

The men’s veterans 40+ category showcased some very close matches with Paul Cyrus defeating Mark Cyrus in an all Cyrus-all St. Vincent and the Grenadines final.
