Basseterre, St.Kitts (July 30th 2007):-St.Kitts national basketball league 2005 and 2006 scoring champion Marvin “Skywalker” Davis has just signed with Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville Florida. The 6’5” national team forward has been one of the most exciting young players in the St.Kitts Anateur Basketball Association league ever since his emergence in the Junior division back in 2000.
He led the national Junior team along with Spoon River Community College Center Kemo “Shasta” Duncan to two Leeward Island youth championship titles. Davis was the leading scorer for the St.Kitts-Nevis national team in the CBC tournament held in Jamiaca during the summer of 2006. The 23 year old averaged 25 ppg to take the SKABA scoring title in 2005 and 2006. The popular young basketball star the second player is as many years leaving the island for the junior college ranks Joining 6’9” center Jerran “Yow” Morris who recently signed with a 4 year school also in Florida, Barry University. Marvin will be playing for the Santa Fe Saints in the Mid-Florida Conference of the National the NJCAA (National Junior College Athletics Association). Santa Fe Community College is a 2 year Junior Community state college that is part of Florida's system of higher education. Santa Fe is accredited by Florida's Department of Education and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Located in North Central Florida, its main campus is in Gainesville, Florida. The college offers associate degrees in over 25 programmes inclduing Dental Assisting, Air Conditioning Repair, Automotive Technology, Child Development, Construction, Public Safety, Zoo Animal Technology, Information Technology, Business and Nursing. Marvin will join a fairly long list of Kittitian basketballers who have earned themselves college scholarships inclduing Glen “Ghost” Phillip, Lincoln “Kimbe” Glasford, Graeme Huggins, Otis “Sexman” Daniel, Tregenza Henry, Jason Noland, Vance Clarke, Jeffery Bramble, Hamil Bassue, Arcilla Jeffers and Geneice Bassue among many others. Davis is expected to leave the island shortly to begin his college basketball career. |
