The Heads, at the 45th Meeting of the OECS Authority in St. Georges, Grenada, say against this background, they are concerned at the significant increases in air fares and noted the perception that these had taken an upward spiral since the commercial alliance of LIAT and Caribbean Star. The Heads expressed their interest in participating in a soon to be convened stakeholders meeting at which the issue will receive the attention it merits. They also spoke to the importance of ensuring that free use is made of marine modes of transportation as a means of moving goods, services and people up and down the region. The Heads say this is especially important given the advent of the CARICOM Single Market and the impending implementation of the OECS Economic Union. |
