Dr. Jean-Charles Dubourg The OECS Secretariat is organising three weeks of training sessions involving OECS biomedical staff between the months of September and November 2005.

The training sessions will be held in Martinique in association with the University Hospital Centre (CHU) of Fort de France. The workshops will focus on maintenance and quality control of life support and imaging equipment.

In addition to these activities, the Secretariat will provide tools and testing equipment to National Maintenance Departments of the OECS Member States. Health Advisor at the OECS Secretariat Dr. Jean-Charles Dubourg has explained that the workshop will be done in three spells with four participants from the OECS in each session.

The training sessions in Biomedical Maintenance fall within the framework of the OECS Health Sector Reform project funded by the French Government. In June 2005 the OECS Secretariat signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University Hospital Centre (CHU) of Fort de France Martinique.

The MOU is to facilitate the process towards strengthening the capacity of the Biomedical Maintenance Departments of the OECS member countries.
