The fourth in the series of lectures to commemorate the OECS 25th anniversary takes place on Thursday, August 31st in Anguilla.

The focus then will be on culture, and one of the Caribbean’s leading researchers on the calypso and other cultural art-forms, Professor Gordon Rholer, will speak on the topic “Preserving Cultural Identity in the Face of Globalisation”.

The Anguilla Lecture comes on the heels of a presentation in St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Tuesday August 8th on “Good Governance in the Caribbean and International Relationships.” This lecture was delivered by the first OECS Director General and current Head of the Government and International Relations Institute at UWI’s St. Augustine Campus in Trinidad and Tobago, St. Lucian Dr. Vaughan Lewis. The very well attended lecture was held at the Methodist Town Hall in Kingstown.

Dr. Lewis’s colleague, Senior Research Fellow at the UWI School of Graduate Studies Dr. Vanus James delivered the second lecture in St. Lucia. The first was presented in Grenada by the OECS Bar Association as part of their contribution to the OECS 25th anniversary celebrations.

The Lecture series is being coordinated by the OECS 25th Anniversary lecture Series Committee under the chairmanship of Mr. Allister Mounsey and is sponsored by Scotia Bank and Caribbean Money Market Brokers (CMMB).
