OECS Heads to Meet on Latest Integration Initiative in St. Lucia PDF Print Email

Prime Minister Tillman Thomas of Grenada OECS Heads of Government will meet in St. Lucia, September 11th 2008, to discuss the proposed economic and eventual political union being promoted by Trinidad and Tobago along with Grenada, St. Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.  All OECS Heads of Government are expected to attend.

The meeting follows the August 14th signing of a Declaration by the Prime Ministers of the four countries, signaling their intention to pursue an Economic Union by the year 2011 to be followed by appropriate levels of political integration by 2013.  Following the signing in Port of Spain, the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Mr. Patrick Manning and Chairman of the OECS Authority, Prime Minister Mr. Tillman Thomas of Grenada, travelled to the other OECS Member States to brief them on the initiative. 

The September 11th meeting, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Thomas will provide an opportunity for full engagement by all Heads on the matter. It will  be held at the Bay Gardens Resort, Gros Islet, St. Lucia.

The OECS Member States are Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Anguilla and the British Virgin Islands.
