Thirty six (36) nationals of OECS countries will be selected for immersion training in French and Spanish under an OECS-ACS Project supported by the Caribbean Development Bank and the French authorities.

Participants will include businesspeople, officials and foreign language teachers .

The Project addresses one of the principal barriers to regional cooperation in the wider Caribbean. According to Acting Director General of the OECS George Goodwin, " The teaching of foreign languages is one of the priorities of the OECS Education Development Strategy which will be fulfilled through this project."The Project will also serve as a model for a large scale language training program for the 28 Member States and Associate members of the ACS.

Professor Norman Girvan, ACS Secretary General pointed out that "The Project provides an excellent mechanism for reinforcing collaboration between the OECS Secretariat and the ACS."

The OECS Secretariat will soon be selecting a Promotion and Co-ordination Consultant for this project, and persons interested in this position should contact the Secretariat in St. Lucia.
