ECTEL - the Eastern Caribbean Regulatory Authority was established with the signing of the treaty of St. Georges on May 5th 2000, as one of the world’s first regional regulatory body. Its establishment followed a decision by the participating states to work together for the liberalization and development of the telecommunications sector. The ECTEL Member States this year began granting licences to new entrants to the Telecommunications sector.
