| OECS 25th Anniversary Ecumenical Service to be held in Castries on Sunday June 18th, OECS Day |

An Ecumenical Service will be held at the Roman Catholic Cathedral Church Minor Basilica in Castries St. Lucia on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 o’clock in observance of the 25th Anniversary of the Signing of the Treaty of Basseterre. During the Ecumenical Service on OECS Day various religious groups as well as the general public will congregate to share the historic achievement of the organization which was formed through the Treaty of Basseterre in 1981. A choir representing staff from the St. Lucia Based, OECS Secretariat and affiliates is expected among three groups on show at the Church Service. The others are the St. Lucia National Youth Choir and Voices in Praise. OECS Staff Members will render scripture passages while the Reverend Emmanuel Mclorren of the Bethel Tabernacle will deliver the Sermon. Prayers will be offered for Caribbean Unity as well as the people of the OECS including the Family, Youth, Governments and OECS Secretariat Staff. Director of the OECS Economic Affairs Division Randolf Cato will present the welcoming remarks. An Ecumenical Service was held on Friday Moning June 16th in Roseau Dominica. Dominica’s Prime Minister, the Honourable Roosevelt Skerrit delivered a short address at the service. Other Members of Cabinet as well as Senior Government Officials were in attendance. Collin Bully, Executive Director of the OECS Export Development Unit EDU, Delivered greetings on behalf of the OECS Director General Dr. Len Ishmael. His Excellency Dr Nicholas J.O. Liverpool DAH, President of the Commonwealth of Dominica and Mrs. Liverpool, Prime Minister was also in attendance. All Member States have been requested to hold a thanksgiving service as the OECS Celebrates 25 years of solidarity. |
