Competition Summary:The United Nations Development Programme is the leading organization when it comes to sustainable human development. Our main objective is to lead the operational activities for development and social change within the UN system. Crime and Violence is a major factor contributing to development and the UNDP finds it necessary to keep countries abreast with the latest trends and statistics in relation to this. Human Development is a development paradigm that is about much more than the rise or fall of national incomes. It is about creating an environment in which people can develop their full potential and lead productive, creative lives in accord with their needs and interests. People are the real wealth of nations. Development is thus about expanding the choices people have to lead lives that they value. And it is thus about much more than economic growth, which is only a means —if a very important one —of enlarging people’s choices. Today the UNDP announces the start of its poster competition centered around the soon to be released Human Development Report on Citizen Security. This competition calls for all participants to develop a poster which encapsulates the theme of “Citizen Security is Development Security”. This theme acknowledges the fact that if citizens do not feel secure then overall development of a society is going to be seriously affected. This competition will give participants a chance to create the public image for the UNDP Human Development Report on Citizen Security. We challenge all designers to capture the spirit of this concept. Competitors are invited to submit their work for evaluation and an announcement will be made regionally as to the winner. There will be no discrimination in terms of age, gender or ethnicity so all are asked to submit their work. The winning poster will be converted into the cover for the Human Development Report on Citizen Security. Additionally other selected posters will be displayed around the region and headline the gala launch event of the HDR on Citizen Security. Please read the rules carefully before submitting your entry, to ensure you understand and accept them. Submitting an entry in the competition constitutes acceptance of the Rules. Please note that you must agree to the below Terms and Conditions before submitting. |
