| St Lucia is part of the Windward Islands group, which forms an arc jutting out from the eastern Caribbean into the Atlantic. It lies south of Dominica and north of Barbados. A mountainous island, with spectacular volcanic peaks, tropical vegetation, colourful flowers and rare species, including the St Lucia parrot (Amazona Versicolor). The twin Pitons (Gros Piton and Petit Piton), striking cone-shaped peaks south of Soufriere, are one of the scenic natural highlights of the Caribbean. |
