Vergille Tadia Xavier

Vergille Tadia Xavier is a national of Saint Lucia who received her secondary education at the St Joseph’s Convent, then attended the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College where she obtained a Diploma in Secretarial Studies. While at the Convent, Tadia (as she is usually called) was involved in the St Joseph’s Convent Drug Free Club and represented the club at a Drug Free Conference in Orlando Florida in April 1990.

Tadia was employed as Secretary to the Managing Director of BEP International in St Lucia from August 1993 to April 1994 and was responsible for preparing Shipping Documents and authorising delivery of Cargo Shipments. Also she was responsible for the general and clerical operations of the firm.

Tadia Xavier worked as Secretary to the Managing Director at Cox and Company Limited for seven (7) years and two (2) months (May 1994 to July 2001). While working at Cox & Company Limited Ms Xavier participated in two seminars namely: “The Professional Secretary – The Way Forward” and “Personal Empowerment”

In August 2001 she joined the staff of the then St Lucia based OECS – Natural Resources Management Unit. She has since received training in Time Management & Productivity. In that same year she gained further knowledge of the use of Microsoft PowerPoint by way of a training session. She also received training in Desktop Publishing, specifically “Photoshop, QuarkXPress and Illustrator”. In 2002 Tadia was admitted as an Associate Member of the Association of Business Executives – London (ABE) through INTRAMACS (Caribbean) Limited – St Lucia, entitling her to use the designatory letters AMABE after her name. In 2003 she successfully completed studies leading to an Advanced Diploma in Business Administration with the Association.

Ms Xavier’s work at the OECS – Environment and Sustainable Development Unit includes responsibility for the Coordination of workshops pursuant to ESDU’s work programme, maintenance of the Unit’s communications, travel, hotel and workshop databases. She is also responsible for the procurement and inventorisation of office stationery and supplies, in addition to recently being made ESDU’s assistant focal point for the Secretariat’s website Content Management System from 1 st April 2005.
