OECS Secretariat and USAID Sign Two-Million Dollar Agreement to Enhance Environmental Protection PDF Print Email

The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States’ (OECS) Secretariat and the United States of America have signed an agreement aimed at enhancing the protection of the region’s environment through a project entitled Protecting the Eastern Caribbean Region’s Biodiversity. The signing ceremony held in Castries on Thursday October 18th 2007, featured a contribution of two million US dollars.

Signing of the St. George's Declaration The month of April is normally one of reflection for OECS Member Countries in terms of Environmental Management. This is influenced largely by the observance of the St. George’s Declaration (SGD) launched on April 10, 2001. The St. George’s Declaration contains policy guidelines and recommendations on environmental management in the OECS.

OECS Countries Require Widespread Training in Protected Areas Planning and Management PDF Print Email

A recent OECS study reveals that substantial training in Protected Areas management is critical for all six independent territories of the OECS.

Protected AreasResults follow an extensive assessment of national and site level needs for protected areas planning and management. The study was conducted in Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
