The OECS Natural Resources Management Unit (NRMU) is assisting Anguilla with financing for two environmental projects. The Anguilla Government and the NRMU on Friday signed memoranda of Understanding for funding the Big Springs National Park Project in the island’s harbour and the East End Palm and Conservation Project. Head of the OECS NRMU Dr. Vasantha Chase who was present for the signing ceremony, spoke of the OECS commitment to the projects. “It is indeed a great pleasure for us to contribute towards and to partner with colleagues in Anguilla for the better management of natural resources and sustainable development , Dr. Chase said. “Today we give you two memoranda of understanding totaling approximately EC$235,000. This is in addition to an EC$190,000 that we have already provided the government of Anguilla as direct assistance beginning July of last year. “So we are indeed proud and honoured that we can continue to provide that kind of assistance,” Dr. Chase said. Acting Permanent Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office Mr. Rodney Raye signed on behalf of the Anguilla Government, while Dr. Chase signed on behalf of the OECS NRMU. |
