The OECS Environment and Sustainable Development Unit (ESDU) has assisted a school in St.Lucia as part of the Unit’s Environmental Education Training and Awareness Programme. ESDU has provided a package of reading material on the use and management of natural resources to the Babonneau Secondary School.
The package that was recently presented to the school’s Principal (on Wednesday February 5th 2003) includes brochures and booklets on the St. Georges Declaration of Principles for Environmental Sustainability in the OECS. The information products also carry a collection of activity books known as building blocks, designed to help students learn more about their natural surroundings. The building blocks cover a wide range of environmental topics such as the Water Cycle, Marine Resources, Nutrition, Trees and the Coral Reef Ecosystem. ESDU’s Administrative Assistant Anselma Fevrier presented the information package to school to principal Terrence Fernelon. The principal welcomed the package as useful resource information for the school’s science department.
