18 June 1981 The OECS was created by the Treaty of Basseterre
1982 Established the Directorate of Civil Aviation - Eastern Caribbean States now named the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority(ECCAA)
Oct. 1983 Establisehd the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB)
1984 Established the OECS Legal Unit
Sept. 1984 Established the OECS Sports Desk
Nov. 1984 The OECS welcomed the British Virgin Islands as an Associate Member
1985 Established the OECS Eastern Caribbean Drug Service (ECDS). The ECDS has been renamed the OECS Pharmaceutical Procurement Service (PPS)
1987 Established the OECS Information Network (INFONET), has now been renamed, The Documentation Centre
1986 Established the Eastern Caribbean States Export Development Agency
1988 Established the Natural Resources Management Unit (NRMU)
1989 Established the Agricultural Diversification Coordinating Unit (ADCU)
1990 Established the OECS Education Reform Unit (OERU)
1993 Established the Eastern Caribbean Education Reform Project (ECERP)
Dec. 1993 Established the OECS Brussels Mission
May 1995 Anguilla became an Associate Member
1996 The OECS Fisheries Unit (established in 1987) was merged with the OECS the NRMU
1998 The OECS Telecommunications Reform Unit was established
2000 The OECS Social Development Unit (SDU) was established
2001 The St Georges Declaration on Principles for Environmental Sustainability was established
2002 The SDU published the first OECS Human Development Report
2002 Created OECS News link, a daily 15 minutes regional radio news program
June 2002 The Eastern Caribbean Telecommunications Authority (ECTEL) was established
2004 Signature of the Memorandum of Understanding between Puerto Rico and the OECS Member States
Dec. 2004 The OECS Protected Areas Associated Livelihoods Project (OPAAL) was established
